About Elina
Elina Ojakangas is a Swedish-Finnish painter and graduate of Gerleborgsskolan School of Fine Art in Stockholm. Her thought-provoking paintings explore themes of identity and melancholy, often drawing from her own memories and emotions. Her works are autobiographical, transforming personal feelings into warped, circular scenes, where the human form is reshaped and distorted through her emotional lens.
Elina's art features a surrealist, distorted quality, with figures that are twisted and elongated, creating dreamlike compositions. This sense of distortion reflects the emotional depth she aims to convey. Rather than experimenting, she approaches her work with careful intention, analyzing and reconstructing her subjects to reflect her inner world.
Described as “uniquely weird, angular, and well-executed,” her paintings have a haunting, surreal beauty. The strange, angular forms reflect the emotional struggle within, contrasting with the underlying dysthymia her art expresses.
